Sugar Cookie

Christmas Time, Santa Clause is coming to town, so be ready with your cookies. For those who don't know about the relation of Santa to cookies, heres the long story cut short. Its a common belief that Santa slides down the chimney on Christmas eve to bring gifts. As a thank you, people keep cookies and a glass of milk near the chimney for Santa, as they are his favorites. Who doesn't love cookies. I am currently experimenting on a variety of cookies. I will add them as i get it done right. To start with i have a sugar cookie recipe, which is simple and tasty. This one i got from a sugar carton, (so sweet)but I had to do some modifications to get it right. My favorite is chocolate chip cookie, which i will be putting soon. So heres the recipe for sugar cookies..

3 cups all purpose flour
1 cup sugar
1 cup margarine/butter softened
3 tbsp milk
1 tsp vanilla
1 egg
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt

In a bowl combine sugar, margarine, milk, vanilla and egg. Add flour, baking powder, and salt. Mix well. Cover with a plastic wrap and refrigerate for an hour.

Heat oven to 400F. Make small balls (the size of puris or 1/2" diameter) of the dough. Slightly press with hand and place it on a cookie sheet or al foil in a baking pan. Place each an inch apart. Sprinkle with sugar if desired. Bake for 5-7minutes or until the sides are brown. Immediately remove from pan and let it cool. They taste really good if you roll them in sugar before placing on the baking pan. That gives the cookie a real sweet taste. This recipe gives you around 65-70 cookies.

Try it and let me know whether Santa liked it.

Merry Christmas everyone and may you all have a delicious new year.
